Advancing Youth Employability Through Skills Development in Gweru

Silveira House, under the Urban Resilience Project, continues to support initiatives that enhance youth employability and promote sustainable livelihoods through market-driven skills development.

Last week in Gweru, 355 young people graduated from vocational training programmes, marking a significant milestone in expanding access to practical skills and economic opportunities for young people.

Of these, 80 graduates were supported by Silveira House under the Urban Resilience Project. The beneficiaries completed training in:

  • Solar Installation
  • Electrical Installation
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Cosmetology

These trades are aligned with current labour market demands, equipping young people with relevant, hands-on skills that strengthen their prospects for employment, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance.

The graduation reflects the impact of a collaborative approach, with key contributions from partners including CAFOD Zimbabwe, Young Africa, MASO, and the Ministry of Youth.

Through targeted investments in both individuals and training systems, Silveira House is contributing to more resilient communities, improved livelihoods, and inclusive economic participation for youth.
