What We Do

Four Strategic
Programme Themes

Integrated, community-led approaches to social transformation — rooted in justice, dignity, and ecological responsibility.

01 Programme Theme

Governance &
Peace Building

Zimbabwe's democratic health depends on an informed, engaged citizenry. Silveira House works to strengthen democratic institutions, promote civic participation, and build durable peace through dialogue, capacity building, and constitutional literacy.

Our governance work equips community leaders, civil society organisations, women, and youth with the knowledge and tools to demand accountability and participate meaningfully in decision-making processes.

02 Programme Theme

Climate Justice &
Food Systems

Zimbabwe's smallholder farmers — most of them women — are on the frontlines of the climate crisis, yet contribute least to it. Our Climate Justice programme advances climate-resilient agriculture, food sovereignty, and environmental justice.

We train farmers in agroecology, support communities in claiming their land rights, and advocate for climate policies that centre the needs of the most vulnerable.

Youth & Community
Economic Empowerment

Zimbabwe's youth are its greatest asset — and its greatest untapped resource. Silveira House builds entrepreneurship, vocational skills, and financial literacy for young people and marginalised communities, opening pathways to dignified livelihoods.

Our economic empowerment programmes combine practical training with business mentorship, savings groups, and access to markets — going beyond skills to build sustainable enterprises.

04 Programme Theme

Environmental Stewardship
& Extractives

Zimbabwe is rich in natural resources — but those resources are not always benefiting the communities that live alongside them. Our Extractives programme promotes community rights in mining and extractive industry zones, holding corporations and the state accountable.

We train community monitors, support legal advocacy, and build environmental stewards who protect natural resources for future generations — ensuring communities benefit fairly from their land.
